| Agricultural producers need a variety of information to keep their business running. ISU Extension has an online resource called the Ag Decision Maker, http://www.extension.iastate.edu/agdm/ that combines this information for crops, livestock, whole farm, new business development, and renewable energy into one resource. Some of the most popular publications can be found there such as Cash Rental Rates for Iowa and Custom Rate Survey. This is a searchable resource.
Nestled on the internet at http://www.agmrc.org/agmrc/ is the Agricultural Marketing Resource Center. This is a national resource for value – added agriculture projects that is managed staff at Iowa State University, Kansas State University, and University of California. The home page will offer links to information on commodities and products, market and industry trends, business creation and operation, research results and value added resources. It may be agriculture based but there is information that can be applied to any business. Take a look.
The Center for Industrial Research and Service (CIRAS) is a partnership of several agencies in Iowa that help small manufacturing companies in Iowa improve their production and management practices. Project managers talk to clients and match them with the resource best able to meet the company’s needs. Now, more than ever, grazing management and feed-cost control are critical to the cow/calf business. To help individuals understand how to minimize feeding costs, the Iowa Beef Center co-sponsored a pasture walk in Milo, Iowa at the Ohnemus Farms, in collaboration with the Iowa Forage and Grasslands Council, Iowa State University Extension in Warren County, the Natural Resources Conservation Service, and Warren County Cattlemen’s Association.
